Pale autumn leaves lie across dark rectangular paving stones, with a loose cluster along the right edge. Black and white photograph by Mark C Grant.
The paving supplies a measured grid; stems and pointed leaf edges keep breaking it. A single pale leaf near the centre has space around it, balancing the denser gathering on the right.
Ormskirk, 30 October 2026. Mark remembers a quiet Friday before Halloween, with a few people already dressed for the occasion and a fresh covering of autumn leaves. Original camera rendering and complete frame retained.
